As many of you know, I'm away with Mr D enjoying a little down-time at beautiful Batcombe Vale campsite in the South West of England.

I know camping isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it definitely is mine.  And when I woke up yesterday to a magical misty morning, it made me realise exactly why I enjoy it so much :)

I haven't been camping in ages, and probably wouldn't be able to do it now what with my back and knees, but I do remember the mornings and how peaceful and beautiful they are as the world awakens around you. Lovely shots of the mist.

But you could get those morning views from a cottage rental or a chalet with a bath and toilet indoors...and a real bed...

I've never got the camping vibe, despite doing it several times - too many creepy crawlies and lumpy air beds for me! But this does look beautiful, peaceful and tranquil, enjoy!

What beautiful country! You must be having a wonderful time waking up to this! It looks like it's right out of Pride and Prejudice or something! :)

Beautiful! I bet you're having a fantastic time!

I have never been tent camping. Not sure I'd like it. Closest I got was when I was a teen, my parents had a tiny camper that was permanently parked on a campsite at a campground and we spent almost every weekend there. I admit I did love that.

Yes, camping really does give you peace and the chance to get back to nature; that's why I enjoy it so much :)

Maybe, but I still love my nights under canvas enjoying the view without a big building in the way :)

Funnily enoough - I said exactly that thing to Mr D there night before I took these photos when I was embarking on my torchlit tramp down to the toilet last thing before bed :)

I only ever went camping once as a child with the girl guides and I hated it (camping would have been my parents' idea of Hell, so I never went with them). One of our kiwi friends bought Barry and I a tent for a wedding present and it was only when I started going camping as an adult with Barry and those friends, that I really got into the whole camping scene.

Camping in a tent can be an acquired taste. Like I said to JJ1560, I only went camping once as a child with the girl guides and I hated it (camping would have been my parents' idea of Hell, so I never went with them). One of our kiwi friends bought Barry and I a tent for a wedding present and it was only when I started going camping as an adult with Barry and those friends, that I really got into the whole camping scene.

I only ever went RV camping once and that was three weeks around BC and Alberta and I really enjoyed that too.

I understand, but I did enough of that when I was a kid, now I'll have a nice comfy bed over everything! And more importantly - indoor toilets and bathrooms that you don't have to trek through mud to get to at night
