The Friday Five
Mar. 11th, 2022 08:58 pm It seems ages since I've done one of these, and I feel like I need some normalcy back in my life, so here I go with a set of questions from 18th February.
1. Do you have Spring or Fall allergies? I get hayfever fairly mildly and it’s set off by tree pollen, so I tend to get it early in the year. It normally kicks off about now, mid March, and is all over by mid May.
2. Do you have something in particular that you are allergic to or is it just general? I get hayfever from tree pollen, and the only other thing I know I’m allergic to is, don’t laugh, guinea pigs!
3. What do you take, if anything, to help? I have to be careful because I’m extremely sensitive to medications that make you drowsy. Anything Piriton-based knocks me out – literally. For that reason, I try to avoid antihistamines unless I’m really suffering which, thankfully, is rare. When I do take them, I take Benadryl because I know they don’t make me sleepy. I know I can trust them.
4. Do you seem to be saying, “It’s just allergies” a lot more than usual these days (i.e. because of Covid)? No, not really.
5. What do you hope to get out and do this spring, allergies and pandemic willing? My main aim for this spring is to have a decent birthday. My birthday is early April and my last two birthdays have been in full lockdown. I refuse to make it a hat-trick this year. All restrictions have been lifted here in the UK at last, and I’m booked to go away with Mr D for a few days over my birthday weekend to a nice luxury hotel in Stratford upon Avon with a performance of Henry VI at the Royal Shakespeare Company! Pandemic can go screw itself!
