Missing my bunnies!
Oct. 28th, 2021 10:39 pmThis weekend, thanks to bloody Covid, Mr D and I are both away from home, but in different places. I'm in Paris for the weekend for what should have been a convention, but that's been postponed until March. However, seeing as the hotel and Eurostar were booked we decided to go to Paris anyway. Mr D, on the other hand, had signed up for an event with his Devon nordic walking club which was supposed to take place in July, but that was postponed until this weekend.
Unfortunately, with neither of us at home, that means we have had to make arrangements for the buns. So I have booked them into the 'Hug a Bunny Hotel'.
It's a small animal hotel that specialises in rabbits and guinea pigs, and is about a fifteen minute drive from where I live. For £10 a night, my buns are going to have a 9 ft heated suite complete with litter tray and bed. They are going to be fed the same food I give them every day, and have exercise outdoors on grass every day. They're also going to have their nails clipped! The hotel has straight five star reviews across the board, so I'm sure I'm leaving my babies in good hands.
I checked the buns into the hotel this evening and the lady that runs it, Karen, loved them both. She's qualified in small animal husbandry, has kept rabbits for 30 years, and currently has nine pet rabbits of her own. I just know they're going to have the best time and be spoiled rotten, and that's exactly as it should be, but it doesn't stop me missing them. I'm picking them up to bring them home on Tuesday next week. I've taken them treats and toys to make them feel a little bit more at home while they're staying away.
But for now, I'm sitting at home, looking at an empty hutch. I've only had those little ratbags for four months and already the house feels so empty without them! They're going to be SOOOO spoiled when I get them home next week!
