This is a set of questions from the end of April
1) What's the furthest place you've travelled to in the last 12 months?
In the last 12 months, the furthest I’ve travelled has been to my Mum and Dad’s on the Isle of Wight which is about 65 miles from home with a boat ride in between!
2) What's the most interesting small town within driving distance?
There is a small village about 90 miles from my home called Avebury. It fascinates me because it’s a tiny old village and it’s actually situated within a Neolithic stone circle. It sits within a landscape that boasts history and structures going back 2,000 – 3,000 years and it really is the most amazing, fascinating, spiritual place.
3) What's the coolest tourist attraction in your city?
There are no tourist attractions where I live. I live in a tiny, sleepy village, and there is nothing special about it at all (although it’s nice and peaceful and a little bit charming in it’s nondescriptness!)
However, about five miles from where I live is a town called Woking which is where HG Wells lived, and where he set the original War of the Worlds novel. I have gone walking over Horsell Common many a time. For those of you who are familiar with the novel, I have also driven over Maybury Hill and along the road to West Byfleet many times too. So that’s kinda cool!
4) What was your favorite road trip you took as a kid?
I never took road trips when I was a kid because my parents didn’t drive (and still don’t). All the trips I took with them were by train. When My family moved away from London, I always used to enjoy taking the train back up to the old smoke to see family and friends, and just do a bit of sightseeing.
5) How often do you feel like you've got to get away?
Recently, all the time, because it seems too long since I actually managed to do get away.
I’ve had a couple of work socials recently, and I even stayed in a hotel about a month ago, and it was like chocolate cake for my soul … just being among people and having fun again!
