I may be a little quiet over the next couple of days as I am heading over to the Isle of Wight to see my Mum for Mothers' Day, but before I disappear, I just want to mark another special occasion with you.

Today is the 40th anniversary of the Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy first being broadcast on BBC radio, prior to it becoming a best-selling five-book trilogy, a movie, and generally a timeless masterpiece of science fiction humour.

The late, great Douglas Adams, who was taken from us far too soon at the age of 49 was a brilliant man whose wit and wisdom has transcended his most famous work.

And so, I'd like to share one particular nugget of his wit and wisdom with you all; I'm very happy to live my life by this wonderfully simple little tenet, and I hope you can too:

'I'd far rather be happy than right any day.'

Thank you Douglas Adams.
