Dizzo update

I very much feel like I've been neglecting my Livejournal for a while. However, the simple fact is, here's not a lot going on right now. My conventions are over for the year, so I'm not doing any spn-related artwork at the moment, the buns are being cute as usual and life is just ticking along quite nicely without too many bumps in the road.
However, there are a few things going on and so I thought I'd do a little update from Dizzo-land!
Mum and Dad
My parents are doing well. Mum's plaster has come off her broken arm and now she's on physiotherapy. She's still got discomfort in the arm but as the physio told her, she's 81, and things don't heal so quickly at that age. She has a brace for the wrist which she's very bad at remembering to wear, but we're slowly getting there.
We've had a bit of a breakthrough with Dad. It's my parents' first full Summer in their new place and Dad has been going down to help Mum in the communal garden as they have their own planter to tend and it's been great. Mum's loving getting out and doing a bit in the garden, and Dad's been going to help her insofar as he can.
He mentioned to me that a couple of the 'old dears' had those wheeled walkers, the ones with a seat, and he mentioned how he throught they looked really secure, and he wanted to try one to give him a bit more confidence when he's walking, so I wasn't going to delay and give him any change to change his mind and I ordered him a nice blue one.

Mr D and I took it over to them a couple of weeks ago and last I heard Dad's loving it!
Fandom stuff
It's all a bit quiet on the Fandom front at the moment, that said, I have finished my Summergen fic and I'm looking forward to the posting time. It'll be great to have some fresh fandom goodies to read. I'm excited to hear about Jensen's upcoming projects and Jared's likely appearance in The Boys. I still haven't watched Season 4 of the Boys yet, but up until very recently I've had a lot of commitments. I want to be able to settle down and watch it without having an art project on the go or anything else to concentrate on.
And indirectly related to fandom, I'm thrilled and honoured to be attending Sam's (
jj1564's son) wedding to the lovely Yuki on Saturday ths week. I'll also be catching up with
milly_gal there so that's another reason to be excited, we haven't seen each other for a while, possibly since June's funeral. I'll definitely post some pictures of the happy couple!
Art
These are the commitments I mentioned in the above paragraph. Dapplegrey Art fell by the wayside last year, because of the whole fasco with my eye. Given that and also Covid, I've basically only done two art shows in the last four years. I made the decision that this year I'm going to resurrect the stall and do my two favourite shows on the Isle of Wight in early August and early September. Then see how I go on from there.
Because of the lack of use, the stall and its stock has been looking rather neglected and sad, so since I came back down to earth after my final convention in early June, I've been working on getting the stall back up and running, doing a bit of maintenance, rebagging and relabelling prints, reframing some originals, ordering, mounting, bagging and labelling new prints and making up fridge magnets and keyrings.
I think I've finally finished everything now, so I can finally put my feet up and look forward to the shows, although they're going to be bittersweet this year. Unless anything changes drastically in the next two weeks, I'll be working the stall solo. My Dad won't be coming with me as he's just not well enough to spend a whole day at the stall, even if he can sit down the whole time. It will be hard, not physically - I've done many stalls solo - but emotionally. Dapplegrey art was as much my Dad's project as it was mine. He loved it, and supported me every step. Going to the stall and helping me set up and work the stall was the highlight of his year, and was also a great dad/daughter bonding time.
I really did think last year of jacking it in. I wasn't sure I could continue without my Dad by my side, but after talking to him and doing a bit of reflection, I think it would hurt him more to know that I'd given up due to him, rather than me carry on without him.
Either way, it sucks, but unfortunately that's life when the years catch up with you!
My health
I'm thrilled to say that this all seems to have settled down. Last week the hospital discharged me, so no more check ups necessary for my eyes. This doesn't alter the fact that I'm likely to get another macular hole in my left eye, and they are aware of this. They have advised me to go on a programme of annual eye tests, and to report to the optimetrist as soon as I start experiencing any visual distortion, so that I can get referred back to the hospital.
Gynae-wise, everything is behaving itself and I'll be happy if it stays that way for a while!
The buns
Gorgeous as always!

And that's about all - thanks for reading
