Tell Us about a Personal Win.

My win concerns my long-suffering hubby, Mr D and my two small, furry overlords, Juniper and Nutmeg.

I've had rabbits almost continuously from the time I was eight to the time I was in my mid-thirties. A good many of those years were when I was with Mr D, so he was aware of the rabbits I’d had in the past, even though he hadn’t got actively involved with them.

When we first discussed the possibility of getting rabbits, I was adamant I wanted them to be 100% houserabbits, which none of my previous buns had been.

To his credit, Mr D was fine with me making this commitment, and happy to support in helping me rabbit-proof the house and make a run etc, but he’d implied that he would be a passive observer. It wasn’t really his thing.

I knew that there was no question of him being in any way unkind to them, it’s just not in his nature, so I was perfectly satisfied with this arrangement. I admit, I was interested to know how he would react to having the rabbits in situ 24/7 rather than just occasionally when I brought them into the house.

Nothing in my wildest dreams would have prepared me for how affectionately he’s bonded with them! He spoils them, cuddles them, plays with them; he even baby talks to them, and he never does that to anyone or anything – not even babies!

I’m the one that has to talk him out of buying them yet another treat or another toy, he frets over them when they’re staying away at the bunny hotel if we’re away and fusses over them when they come home.

He's admitted to me that he had no idea how sassy and full of character rabbits are when given the space and the security to be themselves, and he's loving them and their shenanigans - he even forgives the shenanigans that involve nibbling electrical cords!

I cannot believe how besotted he is with them!

So I’d count that as a very special win.

Sounds a bit like my uncle and aunt when they got guinea pigs, they were really more his pets but she got quite attached to them...at least to the first few. When it got to the stage where the obvious happened with the original 2 and they ended up with about 52, not so much.

<3 Kinda like how Jordan turned around with the cats! :) He's always been an animal lover, but thought that dogs were where it was and cats got all the attention in the world -- UNTIL he fell in love with a catwoman! :) Now, he's even become more of a catmandu than I am a catwoman! LOL
