Doubling up today after a weekend on the Isle of Wight without internet, and a smartphone signal that seems to be powered by a donkey on a turbine!

Day 18

These are photos of Freshwater Bay, the lovely peaceful beach just along from my parents house; it's a shingle beach so tends not to be very busy, and it's lovely to just walk along and let your mind wander along with your feet!

Day 19

A little old man painting a great big boat with a teeny weeny little brush ... what's not to like :)

There is just something wonderful about being by the sea, isn't there? It's always happy-making for me too. Lovely photos!

Lovely beach. How nice to be able to spend some relaxing time amongst the waves. We all need to get away every now and then.

What a sweet picture of the old man. It will take him forever to paint that boat with such a tiny brush. Crazy that he is even attempting it.

What a beautiful place, it's been so long since I went over the the island, you look like you had a blast! Bless the little old man :D I once painted the entire side of a pub with a one and three inch paint brush, so I feel his pain and patience ;)

Yes indeed, the sea is very relaxing!

There are much higher cliffs about a mile along the coast. The south and west of the Isle of Wight has some very dramatic coastal landscapes. The Island was occupied by the Romans and their name for it was 'Vectis' which means 'raised'!

Yes, it is lovely sometimes to just sit and listen to the ebb and flow of the tide!
And that little old man and his teeny paintbrush did make us smile, I'm sure there was a perfectly logical reason why he wasn't using some great big roller or something far more suitable :)

We went back the following day to see how he'd got on, but the tide had come in and interrupted his progress - how rude!

Ahh man, that's not fair. Darned tide! Hope he got it finished :)
