A Duo of Drabbles

It occurred to me that I haven't posted any of my recent drabbles here at my journal for ages, so here's a couple of my favourite ones from the last couple of weeks:

Both drabbles:

THREE OF A KIND

A Fathers’ Day drabble: Jack's got important work to do.

xxxxx

Jack knew he would probably get into trouble for sneaking out of the bunker, but the guys could huff and puff all they liked, this was something he had to do alone.

He scanned the crowded streets around him until he saw the store with the 'Fathers' Day' banners in the window.

Thirty minutes later, he headed home, his shopping bag containing a smart blue tie, a murder mystery novel and a horseshoe-shaped silver bottle-opener.

The shop assistant had commented on how lucky his father was to get three gifts.

She didn't realise he was the lucky one to have three fathers.

MAN OF MANY TALENTS

Dean's not just a pretty face …

Sam often admired Dean's ingenuity.

For instance, this morning, Dean had decided he wanted a cookout.

And now Sam found himself relaxing on the flat concrete square of the bunker's roof watching Dean, resplendent in ancient Black Sabbath T-shirt, and knee-length cut-off jeans, skilfully searing a bunch of steaks on a hastily-purchased grill as he sang along to his favourite song on the radio.

Carry on my Wayward Son…

There'll be meat when it's well done…

With cold beer and chicken breast…

Then I'll fry some more…

Okay, so there was Dean's ingenuity, and then there was Dean's downright smart-assedness!
