New wheels in the Dizzo Houshold

We both have our own cars.  Mr D's was a Nissan Note and it was older than mine (13 years old) and he's had it since it was new, it's been an amazingly reliable servant.  However, now he is driving a lot more miles for work, we have been talking about replacing it on and off for a few months now, as the poor thing is starting to show it's age.

In the last six months, it's been in and out of the garage for niggly little issues, but when they are added up, they no doubt cost more than the car was worth.  So a week ago, we started talking more seriously about a replacement.  Probably need to look at doing it in the new year we said.

Then on Friday, Mr D saw a car he liked on the website of a dealership in the village that has an excellent reputation.  On Saturday we went to look at it.  On Sunday, we sorted out the finance.

On Monday, we got the nod.

This afternoon, Mr D said a fond farewell to his old friend, and we welcomed this new beast (NIssan Qashqai) into our lives...

Apparently Mr D has called it 'Chonky'.
If it means that Mr D is driving on the motorway every day in a bigger, safer and more reliable car, I'll call it whatever he wants!  :D

Oooh, pretty! We've been happy with all our Nissans. I miss my '84, bought ten years old 200SX--she was my Baby, my own little space pod, my alter ego, extended brain and body. Nimble and with tons of bottom, she saved my bacon a couple of times, time-jumping through an imminent collision.

I had to give her up when my stupid knee buckled to driving stick in-city. A decade and more ago--I'm still mourning. Nissans rule, man. May Chunky serve you well!

It's so sad to see a much loved old car go; you remember the fun and adventures you've had in them, and they become such a big part of your life.

Mr D and I are both Nissan lovers. This car will be our fifth Nissan between the two of us. I think they're really good quality and good value cars. Also, as someone who prefers an automatic car, I can confirm that the Japanese manufacturers have really nailed the auto box compared to the European manufacturers!

Nice car! And he even got it in "Impala Black"... ;) Safe travels to both of you!

Thank you :)

Mr D loves his black cars. I prefer a brightly coloured car, my last three cars have been burgundy, copper and the current one is turquoise!

I wish Mr D many happy miles in his new Chonky!

I'm in the US--we call that one a Nissan Rogue.

Huh, how funny. I wonder why they're different? Mind you, I like 'Rogue'; I always thought 'Qashqai' was a weird name. What the heck does it mean?

I thought you were going to announce an electric car 😂

[identity profile] dizzojay.livejournal.com 2020-09-24 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not electric but it's very eco-friendly (and economical). So much so that it's zero tax rated which is a great bonus!

Very nice car. Nissan's are good cars. My brother has one and my dad had one when I was younger. They were both very reliable. I do like black cars as well, but cars with some color are also fun. My current car is a very nice type of green. You don't see it anywhere else so the color is quite unique. I like it, and have had numerous compliments on the color.

I always like brightly coloured cars. My current car is kingfisher blue, and in the past I've had burgundy and copper.
