Challenge #9

In your own space, create a fanwork.

So this afternoon, I worked on this pastel portrait of Sam – season 8 hair!

Wow, great job! I saw the picture before I read the words and knew exactly who it was. The hair is on point.

Sam looks very pettable in that picture. I mean, he's actually more prickly, but it's an inviting idea. :D

It reminds me of this cartoon. Bring on the hawtness!

I think it explains a lot about fanwork. Many people who make fanwork are more-or-less female, so they render male characters in ways they find interesting to see. If they're writing smut, well, you get intensely kissable Batman!

One reason I think we need more diversity in creators of movies, TV, books, etc. is that it would be fun to see more diverse fanservice. Tight male buns bending over the front of a car to examine the engine. ("I thought you had a minor in Mechanics." "Shh! I do, I just wanted to see him bend over.") Lingering scenes of a man making coffee for his female boss. So, so many crying men!

And things like Lovecraft Country with its much more accurate than average portrayal of situational alertness in black people and how adroitly they respond to danger. Screw "the black guy dies first," this show has scenes of black people hauling ass outta there while white racists get eaten by monsters. <3

... now I want to see racebent Sam and Dean in Supernatural with that flavor. Or a crossover.

Oh wow, this is excellent! Also it makes me want to do another pastel piece. I‘m focusing on watercolour and ink right now, but I adore pastels so much.
