Feeling a bit light-headed!

I have an annual tradition of doing a craft project over the Christmas break, and this year I've decided to attempt my very first cross-stitch.

It seems, however, that my living room light isn't bright enough fo such fiddly work, so to preserve my poor, 53-year-old eyesight, I've had to ake other arrangements:

Unfortunately Barry has commandeered the office for when he works from home, and my desk downstairs is temporarily out of service because the Christmas tree is on it, so I don't have a desk to put a lamp on, daylight bulb or not. Therefore, I've had to come up with a more portable solution!

Smart! I had a spell of counted cross stitch many years ago. I've still got a couple of them up on my wall. Looking forward to seeing your work when it's finished :)

I'm really enjoying doing it, but I've come to realise that it's going to take me longer than the Christmas break to do this! It's a puffin picture for Mr D, and I've just been doing the puffin's white belly which, on white fabric, is maddening!

That's clever. I love counted cross-stitch and use a Tensor lamp when I do it because it's very bright. I also use a round-the-neck hanging magnifier. Ahh, the joys of getting old. *rolls eyes*

I'm toying with the idea of getting one of those round the neck magnifiers. The light helps, but it's still very fiddly — especially as I've just been doing a large area of white thread on white fabric!

They are great for reading, too, especially if there's any small print involved.

Ahh the joys of getting old! You know that's not a bad idea, I have a lot of trouble with my cross stitch due to the light, maybe it's time I invested *G*.
