A Great Big Cock

This is London's latest statue; a 5 metre high blue cockerel said to symbolise strength and regeneration.

Funny how everything takes on a different meaning when you've read way too much J2 slash...

It is bizarre, I hadn't seen it before.

There's an empty plinth in Trafalgar Square and it's used to showcase the work of new and young artists, so the statue on it changes about once a year; when I was last in London back in the Autumn the statue there was a boy on a rocking horse.

So now we have a chicken. Hmmmm ...

A boy on a rocking horse used to be there........oh man.......I really am not into this new agey kind of art. Personally, I find it silly. But, to each his own, I guess. I suppose it is nice of London to showcase new artists so they can get their name out there. That's nice, I guess. But a blue rooster......I just can't help but laugh.

The irony is that Trafalgar Square was built to celebrate Nelson's victory against Napoleon's navy at Trafalgar in 1805. Nelson's column in the middle of the square is one of London's most famous landmarks.

So, here we are celebrating one of England's most famous and important victories over French invaders, and what's the French national emblem?

A blue cockerel!

Well, didn't we always think that the french were a little cuckoo anyway. Ha! Ha! Ha! (Pun intended) (And no insult meant to any french fans)

That is intriguing that the celebration of such an important battle in your history is celebrated with a blue cockerel. ;D

Well, apparently now it is; it wasn't for the last two hundred and nine years! :)
