Easter artwork

Having a few days off over Easter has given me a bit of headspace and a bit of time which has been nice after a manic few weeks at work!

I'd been invited to join a great series of art workshops called 'Sketchbook Revival' on Facebook by [livejournal.com profile] amberdreams and this was the first opportunity I've had to play in that sandbox.

So far, I've only managed to participate in two of the workshops, but without a single pastel in sight!  It was fun to step outside of my comfort zone for a bit.

The first workshop was a study of a pair of pears in watercolour.
This is the first time I've got my watercolours out in about 30 years!

The second workshop was to draw a 'whimsical' owl in mixed media.

I kind of went my own way a bit with this one, I didn't do it in my sketchbook because I decided to do it on a black background.  It is mixed media - done in metallic coloured pencil, interference paints, white watercolour and black fine line marker.  Unfortunately the shimmery effect of the metallic pencils and the interference paints has been lost in the photo.

I'm not entirely sure I achieved whimsical, but at least it's colourful!

So, that was Easter!

I reckon you should play with your watercolours a bit more. 👍

I'll definitely have to try, and not leave it another thirty years!

AWE! I just LOVE that owl!! It's too cute for words! And those pears look good enough to eat!! (And I don't even like eating pears! XD)

Thank you — and I know what you mean, pears aren't my favourite fruit, either!

You're welcome! *nods* I get them for Dad & if there's any left they go outside for the birds & squirrels, & pears are the last thing to be eaten. XD
