Music Meme - Day 25

Day 25 - A song by an artist no longer living

There are so many gifted artists who are no longer with us; Lennon, Freddie, Bowie, George Michael, Prince, to name but a few.  But I've decided to go with a less high-profile artist who sadly left us in 1998, killed in a car crash.

He only had one hit in the UK, but it was a truly memorable one, and so here he is:
Falco, with Rock Me Amadeus

I love this song, and had no idea he'd died so young and so long ago, that's such a shame.

That's why I chose him for this question rather than someone high profile. He was a week off his 41st birthday when he died.

What an awesome song! It's such a shame he's no longer with us. *sighs*

Great choice, Dizzo! Not only because he's from my homestead Austria, but also because he managed something that no artist from our country, despite how successful they were/are around here, ever did - landing 1st place in the UK AND in the billboard charts in the US. That, and the fact that there are definitely some parallels between him and Mozart, as the lyrics point out so nicely (for example, both mainly got the recognition they deserved for their talents after their death)

PS: another great song of him is, at least in my opinion, "Out Of The Dark". It was released after his death, and the lyrics are hauntingly beautiful, right as if Falco already felt that his time on Earth was coming to an end. Definitely worth checking it out!

Another feat he achieved was that he had a UK hit with a song that wasn't in English, and that's very rare indeed.
I will have to listen to 'Out of the Dark', not sure I know that one.

WHOA.

I had no idea he wasn't with us anymore!

I love that song, always loved the video. He had another hit here in the States, "Vienna Calling", but Amadeus was always my favourite.

That's why I chose him for this question rather than someone far more high profile. He was a week off his 41st birthday when he died.

This is always such a crazy but fun song, it's such a shame he was taken so soon.

It was a fun song, and it's awful that he died so young.
