Crossroads 6
It was Friday 10th March when
amberdreams,
sasha_dragon,
chellexxx,
heavenli24, and our friends Chris and Natalie all converged along with me on the English south coast seaside town of Brighton for Crossroads 6 convention. Crossroads is always a nice, sociable convention, but there was tangible excitement this time around knowing that we were going to be joined by Jensen, in the UK for a con for the first time in five years and also, Danneel, for her first convention ever.
There were a great line up of guests, some regular favourites such as Mark Sheppard, Rick Worthy and Ruth Connell, and some new faces who havent been a to a UK convention for many years, if ever, such as Sam Ferris and Julie McNiven.
After all meeting up and registering on Friday, we rounded off the day with a great italian meal close to the hotel before the festivities began on Saturday morning. My con began with my Jensen photo op and he gave me a big grin wen he saw me because he remembered me from JIB only two weeks before!
As I was standing in the photo queue, I amused myself observing all the many guests that had never met Jensen before as they staggered out from behind the photo booth after their photo op, fanning themselves, clutching their heart, red-faced and in some cases tearful; it was hilarious! It was like watching survivors crawling out from a train wreck - yes, ladeez, welcome to the Jensen effect!

Later in the morning, I went to see Rick Worthy. It was great to see him again, and he greeted me exactly the way he always does when I see him - he shouted 'Jane Disney!!!' In that gorgeous deep, booming voice of his! :D
Not the best photo of me, but I was laughing too much and I forgot to pose!

I got Jensen's autograph in the afternoon, and got him to sign a page in my Supernaturl colouring book. I told him it was great to see him back here on my home turf, and he told me it was great to be back!

In between times, some really fun, interesting panels, and great company finished off a fine first day of Crossroads con.
Sunday morning started off with another couple of photos. This time with Sam Ferris who I had never met before and with Danneel.

It was nice to meet Danneel at long last, and she came across as so friendly and welcoming, I love our photo, even though I do feel like a total beluga standing next to her!
And Sam was totally Ellen's alter-Ego! She was fun and energetic, and told us that both her parents were British, so coming back to the UK felt like coming home!

Later in the day, I had my double photo op with Jensen and Mark. I was pondering long and hard over what to do. We all know Mark is such a contrary sod (that's why we love him), and that any poses we asked about, he'd either say no, or do the exact opposite, so I decided to ask Jensen because then he could take the lead. I told Jensen I wanted Dean to rescue me from Crowley, and he really delivered. Even Mark played along in his usual understated way!! XD
This was my photo of the con; I love it SOOOOO much!

I finished off the convention with some autographs, and got my artwork signed by Julie and Sam. They both enjoyed seeing the art, and I was so happy to get those two new signed pictures to add to my portfolio.

The convention ended with the Jensen and Danneel panel and then the closing ceremony. Everyone had been commenting throughout the convention how happy and relaxed Jensen looked. He genunely looked like he was having a ball, and when, at the end of the con, the entire room stood up and gave Danneel a wonderful warm, appreciative standing ovation, he looked ready to burst withh pride and gratiude.
I think it's no secret that Danneel has always been nervous of attending conventions because she's wary of the reception that she'd get (and given some of the shit she has to deal with on Twitter, who can blame her), but that day, our little convention in damp, blustery Brighton made her feel like the centre of the universe. There's not much about my country that's made me feel proud in recent years, but this - yes - this made me very proud of our UK convention.
Both Danneel and Jensen looked genuinely emotional (Jensen put on his dark glasses and pretended to be trying not to cry.) Truth in humour I think!
So yes, it was a great weekend, and I think this positive experience has hopefully made it very likely that Jensen and Danneel will be back to UK cons at sometime in the near-ish future. I really hope so!
On Monday morning, it was - as always - hard to say goodbye to my gang, but I know it won't be long before I see them all again, and until then I have my great photos and lots of awesome memories to keep me going!
And that was Crossroads 6!
Thanks for reading :)
