The irony is that Trafalgar Square was built to celebrate Nelson's victory against Napoleon's navy at Trafalgar in 1805. Nelson's column in the middle of the square is one of London's most famous landmarks.

So, here we are celebrating one of England's most famous and important victories over French invaders, and what's the French national emblem?

A blue cockerel!
