Yes we do laugh, just as those from colder climates laugh at us when we're not coping because the temperature has dropped to single Celsius digits!
The thing is, England is just not built for hot weather, so when you get a run of it, you genuinely can't deal with it. The houses heat up (a great thing in cold weather when you need to maintain heat) but when it's hot for days on end, you can't cool them down quickly enough. I was gobsmacked my first trip back to England as an adult to find that most people didn't even have flyscreens! How are you supposed to keep your windows open overnight to let the house cool down without flyscreens? And who has air conditioning in England? Nobody, that's who. Anyway, hope you get a nice cool change soon. It will be a welcome relief. :)
